This set is a selection of very large hand crafted papers, ritually created with Willow tree bast (the Celtic tree of Imbolc), paper made from a deconstructed and reconstructed Wasp Nest (flying insects are air element and wasps are transformation!), fly agaric/usnea/fern forest floor paper (for earthing, healing and growth), and cards ecoprinted with the whispers of snow fallen wild rose and blackberry leaves (showing the beauty to be discovered in transformation, and gratitude for the blossoming). 
 
The outer cover and cosmic egg pages are all embellished with the naturally shed skin of a snake. It has been incorporated into this offering in such a way that you can remove pieces of the skin as part of your own transformation, release, and metamorphosis rituals. I did this as it helps to make this as full sensory as possible, and visceral. If you feel drawn to burn pieces of this skin ritually, please know that it will smell like burning hair, not very pleasant, but a nice little added dimension! ;-)
 
The wasp paper page took longer to create than any other elements of this artist book, for it required I gently remove the layers of a wasp nest, piece by piece. In itself, it was a ritual in letting go, exactly what this page of the touch talisman was intended for. I wanted to share the incredible beauty these creatures created as a home, and remind you that they left it when it was time do to so (speaks to the art of letting go!). Each wasp paper page has a naturally tanned cosmic egg made from Salmon skin. This is sown into the center of the page with a single strand of golden horse hair received from an old fiddlers bow. 
 
The fly agaric/usnea/fern paper was chosen to represent the earth/winter season that we are coming from, and to consciously ground the air. Note too that I added usnea as it is a lung tonic! This forest floor page also includes a cosmic egg created from naturally tanned Salmon skin (that I then ecodyed with charred Mugwort), and this too is hand stitched onto the center of the page with a single strand of golden horse hair. A note that horse represents heartspace, Venus, and freedom. This page is an invitation to grow and seed intentions. 
 
Spaces for mark making and personal notes are provided throughout, and the ecoprinted art cards are removeable if you so choose. These pages are created in such a way that they can each be framed if you wish to do so. I did not sew a spine on this set because I didn't want those who would frame these pages to have holes running down one side, so if you prefer to have this serve you as a book instead of sacred wall art, then please know that I did reinforce the left hand side of the heavy pages so that they can carry the stitches you make. 
 
I call these 'touch talismans' because having worked with them for a while now, there is no longer a need to document or write the intentions, I merely take my hand, touch the relevant page/egg and in doing so am ritualizing the intention to grow or let go. 
 
I simply adore this offering in every way. It took an insance amount of time to bring it through in the way it needed to, and I am so so smitten with it. I hope you are too!
