This listing is for one Handcrafted Wild Pink Kaolin Clay Fertility Goddess, from The heART of Ritual.
To me, this is Brigid (and Venus) reimagined. No flowing red hair or costumes, this is a return to innocence.
Brigid is honoured as a fertility goddess and both her sacred festival, and Spring itself, are the fertile grounds we journey this time of year. It is a time pregnant with potential. The name of this festival, Imbolc, is an old Irish word that translates as 'i mbolc', meaning 'in the belly'. This comes from it being the time of year that ewes were heavily pregnant with lambs.
Brigids flame is tended to and protected by 19 women even to this day, and so I felt it would be a meaningful gesture to include a sacred fire with this offering, so I carved out a space to serve as a place for a small devotional candle, and then took to making these little candles from EU grown organic soy. Each comes with candles for your ritual pleasures!
There are so many references and depthy seasonal symbolism in these ritual artifacts that I am sure you can see for yourself. You will certainly experience it first hand when you receive yours into your hand.
I have been hand sculpting this style of goddess artifact for almost fifteen years now and it is the only style 'human figurine' I like to have in my personal prayer space. These relate with the feminine archetype as opposed to a particular deity or figurehead, and as such, they are all inclusive. Hence, no head. No head no mind! ;-)
There were alot of processes throughout my time working with this incredible clay really, and each shape and vessel that came through had its own unique message and journey. I had consciously created my own cloister at home this winter and isolated myself from pretty much everything other than what was coming through for this collection in each moment. It was truly the first time that I have 'worked' in this way, and no surprise that it was necessary to do it this way really as Spring is all about time, awareness of the need to pace ourselves more compassionately, and divine timing eh! Clearing the time and space to focus on this collection has without a doubt been big medicine me me this winter!
These are lovingly handsculpted from wild kaolin clay that I hand gathered in the Balkans. After a year of processing and curing the clay, this wild earth gorgeousness was shaped by hand into what you see here, and fired in the kiln. This stunning clay is not something that I was able to easily share via the camera, the natural shimmer and gentle mottled tones of pinks and creams throughout are something that can only truly be appreciated in person.
I do make my own wild glazes but the beauty of this rare clay needs to be experienced in its natural state and have the surface remain raw to the touch. I like this form of direct intimacy and to be honest, glazes would only take from this natural beauty and textures. These natural organic curves and surfaces have been touched by my fingertips only.
Just three of these ritual offerings are available. Due to the unique nature of this wild material, each one is totally unique in colour, shape, and form. The above photographs show examples of the pieces available, and is a good representation of what you will receive.
