These are lovingly handsculpted from wild kaolin clay that I hand gathered in the Balkans. After a year of processing and curing the clay, this wild earth gorgeousness was shaped by hand into what you see here, and fired in the kiln. This stunning clay is not something that I was able to easily share via the camera, the natural shimmer and gently marbled tones of peaches, pinks, pale yellow and creams throughout are something that can only truly be appreciated in person.
 
I do make my own wild glazes but the beauty of this rare clay needs to be experienced in its natural state and have the surface remain raw to the touch. I like this form of direct intimacy and to be honest, glazes would only take from this natural beauty and textures. These natural organic curves and surfaces have been touched by my fingertips only.

To me, this is Brigid (and Venus) reimagined. No flowing red hair or costumes, this is a return to innocence.
 
Brigid is honoured as a fertility goddess and both her sacred festival, and Spring itself, are the fertile grounds we journey this time of year. It is a time pregnant with potential. The name of this festival, Imbolc, is an old Irish word that translates as 'i mbolc', meaning 'in the belly'. This comes from it being the time of year that ewes were heavily pregnant with lambs. There are so many references and depthy seasonal symbolism in these ritual artifacts that I am sure you can see for yourself. You will certainly experience it first hand when you receive yours into your hand.
 
I have been hand sculpting this style of goddess artifact for almost fifteen years now and it is the only style 'human figurine' I like to have in my personal prayer space. These relate with the feminine archetype as opposed to a particular deity or figurehead, and as such, they are all inclusive. Hence, no head. No head no mind! ;-)
 
Just three of these ritual offerings are available. Due to the unique nature of this wild material, each one is totally unique in colour, shape, and form. The above photographs show examples of the pieces available, and is a good representation of what you will receive.
