This is restorative, nourishing, and balancing ritual bathing bar, a heaven sent when the snow melts and I start back into gardening and foraging out on the land. Anyone that does this knows how much of a hammering your hands get, so if you're going to use something to wash your hands that often each day, you might as well use a soap that will help your hands!
I've been making this (and my Green Fingers hand and nail balm) for years now and always ensure I have them to hand in time for the growing season.
I wanted to create a meaningful soap, one that in itself, incorporates the essence of Spring and new beginnings visually, energetically, and through the selection of herbal ingredients available during that time of year. When considering this and the first blossoms to arrive, I choose to work with Violet - violet oil is what provides the delicate scent, and violet leaf is one of the deeply nourishing herbal ingredients in this soap. To this, I've added mallow leaf, comfrey and green clay that I hand gathered in France, and hand ground epidote fine crystal powder to enhance essential life force.
Visually I also wanted to give a nod to Spring and the growing season, and created this as a two toned bar as a reference to the life within the earth, equilibrium, and the layers of being. The top of the bars swirl and give movement, like the wind - the principal element of Spring. The crowns of these bars are adorned with beautiful green Shepherds purse seedpods in the shape of mini hearts, dusty pink seed pods from wild sorrel, and nettle seeds, all of which have their own associations with spring, the air element, Venus, and virgin archetype. I've dusted them all off with some fine crystal powder of selenite, a direct reference to the virgin/Spring archetype and a crystal that is a lunar protector and purifier. I'm including a photo close up for reference which was taken while the soap was in its curing process.
Note that these are very large bars of soap, so they go a long way! ;-)
